Here is an incredibly oversimplified and narrow map of licenses you can use in Free Software and Free Cultural Works. Six licenses. So this is also an statement against license proliferation.

Copyleft means that you can’t take away the freedoms given to you from the people to which you are distributing the work. Permissive means that you can narrow those freedoms.

(p) means that such license gives you some form of protection from patents.

Please remember that you can incorporate works licensed under a permissive license into works licensed under a copyleft license, but not the other way around.

BTW, I’m not a lawyer and/or a license expert, so this information can be wrong. Go read the licenses themselves, please.
